Big Gigantic Steals Show

So this review was supposed to be about The New Deal at last Thursday's Paradise concert in Boston.  And don't get me wrong, they killed it as always.  But not more than five minutes into the opening act, I started to realize that I was missing the big story.  Gigantic even.  This was not your average arrive-halfway-through-the-show-and-tune-in-and-out-of-music-while-you-stock-up-on-beers-at-the-bar opener.  To be sure, Big Gigantic is not your average band.  Jeremy Salken brings the ruckus on drums while Dominic Lalli alternates between DJing and saxophone.  Yes, you read that right.  Talk about talent.  The result is something truly unique and practically impossible not to dance to.  Heady beats, base-heavy synth lines, jazzy sax solos, and righteous percussion made for one of the more memorable acts to pass through Boston's electronica scene.  So all apologies to The New Deal--I owe you guys a review.  Last night it was Big Gigantic's time to shine.  Do yourselves a favor and check them out soon.
